Amy’s portfolio of luxurious residential interiors includes an array of artistic and sophisticated homes throughout the world. The firm’s work has been featured in such publications as Architectural Digest, Elle Décor, House Beautiful, NY Cottages & Gardens, Martha Stewart Living, and Luxe Interiors + Design. Amy’s singular, successful approach to design and the curatorial arts has earned her firm many of the most prized awards in design, including the House Beautiful Next-Wave Award, Architectural Digest/AD 100 Award, ELLE Decor A-List, Luxe Interiors + Design Gold List and New York Magazine’s Top 100 List—an accolade Amy has received consistently since 2012.7
The Arizona native developed a deep passion for design and honed her curatorial eye studying eminent historians. She received her master’s in fine and decorative art from the prestigious Sotheby’s Institute of Art. She then served as a director at Thomas O’Brien’s Aero and spent five years as the design director of noted 20th-century specialist Lin-Weinberg Gallery in New York City. Amy is proud to serve as a Co-Chair of the ASPCA’s Bergh Ball and as Co-Chair of the Van Alan Institute’s Program Leadership Council.
Amy Lau Design published a monograph in 2011, and Amy accepted an honorary doctorate from New York School of Interior Design the following year. She served as a spokesperson for Benjamin Moore’s 2010-2011 campaign “Paint with the Very Best,” which appeared in magazines, buses and billboards throughout the nation. She has designed spaces for renowned show houses like Kips Bay in New York and has created distinctive interior installations for Kohler, Bergdorf Goodman, Lladró, Baccarat, the Showtime television network as well as an exclusive boutique for Elie Tahari in East Hampton, New York. Amy Lau Design recently collaborated with Architectural Digest designing the inaugural AD Design Studio for the Architectural Digest Design Show in New York.
Amy’s unique expertise makes her a sought-after speaker and panellist at conferences and forums around the world. In 2018, Amy served as the keynote speaker at The Phoenix Art Museum’s annual fund-raising gala. The event garnered the highest attendance for an invitation-only event in the Museum’s history.
In 2005, Amy co-created Design.05, which later went on to become the Design Miami Fair. Occurring alongside the Art Basel fairs in Miami, USA and Basel, Switzerland, Design Miami has become the premier venue for collecting, exhibiting, discussing and creating a collectable design. In 2017, Amy Lau became the first interior designer invited to exhibit by Salon Art + Design. Described by Wallpaper as “A sumptuous setting…a sight to behold,” the alluring aesthetics captured in the atmosphere by Amy Lau comprised a Living-Room environment, containing an array of mediums, including ceramics, glass, metal, textiles, wood and showpiece minerals.
Amy has designed two lines for Kyle Bunting: ‘Prisma,’ as well as an array of patterned cowhide rugs and pillows. She is also the designer of colourful wool-and-silk rugs for Doris Leslie Blau, tie-dye wall coverings for Maya Romanoff, a vibrant fabric collection of contemporary prints, embroideries and wovens exclusively for S. Harris and unique Heath Ceramics mosaic tiles. For every medium, for every environment—and for every client—Amy’s highest mission and greatest achievement will always be to create livable, meaningful homes filled with harmony, artistic integrity, beauty and inspiration.
