Fendi Casa X Cristina Celestino‘s Collection at Salone del Mobile 2019 ⇒ Once again, FENDI teams up with architect and interior designer Cristina Celestino for a new chapter with its FENDI Casa line, following the “Happy Room” project presented at Design Miami/ in 2016. In Miami, FENDI often collaborates with emerging designers and is now expanding such collaborations with an international debut on the market. This marks a new approach of the brand with FENDI Casa which will include exciting collaborations with international guest designers. During Salone del Mobile 2019, running April 9-14, FENDI opened the doors of its space on Via Solari to unveil “Back Home”, a special installation showing the latest pieces designed by Cristina Celestino for the Roman luxury house and produced by Luxury Living Group.

As the project’s name suggests, “Back Home” will celebrate FENDI’s iconic Pequin striped motif, its logo non-logo, which immediately evokes the brand’s heritage of elegance and sophistication with authentic discretion. Armed with her signature style, which combines a delicate touch resulting from a thorough research and an audacious sensibility for colours and shapes, Cristina Celestino reworked the Pequin, – which FENDI introduced in 1987, the same year of the launch of its Casa interior design line, – to create a refined and creative range of statement pieces. They were showcased with an exclusive installation, which recalled a Roman house from the ’70s immersed into a bourgeois atmosphere enriched with a visionary spirit.
Curved, soft silhouettes define the selection of armchairs and sofas where the Pequin stripes take the centre stage with their geometric, almost mannish look counterbalancing the femininity of the shapes. FENDI’s signature geometric motif explodes in a vortex for the rose-like design – from FENDI archives, designed by Karl Lagerfeld in 1983 – of the coffee tables and the carpets, where the FF logo discretely appears with grace and elegance.
Fashion serves as the main inspiration for the collection, with the range of mirrors and lamps revealing silhouettes inspired by cufflinks, while the cabinets echo Art Deco’s stylistic codes with their juxtaposition of geometric shapes, bold curves, strong vertical lines, sports surfaces recalling stardust powder, sunset tones and galactic spaces.
To complement the interior design collection, Silvia Venturini Fendi, has conceived an exclusive luggage set worked in the Pequin motif, coming both in the classic tobacco and black colour match, as well as in a new blue, beige and powder pink combination presented for the first time with vintage luggage pieces with the iconic Pequin of that time. The Pequin motif will also define an exclusive Peekaboo bag, available for sale in a limited edition of five pieces in the FENDI Montenapoleone boutique.
The “Back Home” collection was presented at the new FENDI Casa exhibition space on the occasion of the Salone Del Mobile 2019, as a tribute to Cristina Celestino’s creativity and design philosophy that creates subtle, sophisticated connections with the FENDI Casa Collection lifestyle. A keen eye for colour and materials, which blend in delicately with the furniture.
