How To Create a Zen Garden
If you are one of those kind of people who love the Japanese culture or simply just believe that love happens when you look at your backyard and breathe the air of tranquility and calm, well, you should create a Zen Garden for your design home. A Zen Garden, creates a miniature stylized landscape through carefully composed arrangements of rocks (or semi precious stones), water features, moss, pruned trees and bushes, lighting, and uses gravel or sand that is raked to represent ripples in water. Here you will find some decorating ideas for your Zen Garden, to get style at home, and we recommend you to look some interior design websites to be more inspired.
- Choose the size of your Zen garden
The first thing that you need to decide is if you will occupy your entire yard or if you want to create a small Zen garden for your table. Zen gardens can actually be created as a desktop garden.
- Add plants, paths and lights
Choose some cool plants for your garden (we know that mostly have just stones, but plants can be awesome!). Plant some bright yellow blossoms to suggest yang energy. And if you create paths, you will be able to walk freely. Don’t forget the lights, your Zen garden will be stunning at night.
- Decorate it with stones and pebbles
Now you can use some stones (also to make the paths!). This is one way to attain a Zen look. But make sure that you arrange them well. Submerge large rocks in the sand. Do not place too much of them so that the area won’t look cluttered. You can place them off-center.
- Choose some Zen features
To set the mood even more Zen, there are different Zen features that you can use. For example a stone lamp, a statue and anything that you can add that is visually appealing. Even rock boulders will do. Just use it in harmony!
- Put some water and structures
Yes, water! Not all Zen gardens are totally dry. Some would add some water features or even place their Zen garden near existing ponds and other waters. And the water mixed with some structures will add value to your garden. You can even add garden bridges into it. What about seating areas like wooden benches? Awesome right?
