“I spent so much time going to work when my kids were younger that the only person who got to enjoy my house was my housekeeper,” stated the British-born designer of textiles and interiors Kathryn M. Ireland.
In 2017 she bought actor’s Tobey Maguire mansion in Santa Monica for the modest price of $3,325,000. She rapidly transformed this stunning manner into a haven of luxury design that fully personifies her elegant style and personality. After she finished the renovation of her new house, Ireland invited Elle Decor to participate in a tour of this mansion and the result is absolutely mesmerizing.
But first, let’s start with the outdoors. Her home is surrounded by an amazing, garden inspired by the Moroccan style. The main feature is a small pool that was added by architect Ruben S. Ojeda to the original design.

As for the home’s decor, Ireland used a miasma of her brand’s signature textiles all around the main rooms of the house. She also mixed those fabrics with incredible rugs, amazing antiques and stunning artwork pieces.
In the living room, a 19th-century Uzbek rug hangs over the red linen-velvet sofa as a symbol of Ireland’s design empire. This room serves as the mansion’s hotspot and follows a rustic design, with elegant fabrics and some rustic style furniture that includes 17th-century French chairs, an 18th-century Mexican console, and a cocktail table from her furniture line.
For her master bedroom, Ireland designed the stunning hand hammered–iron canopy bed and the elegant sofa. She completed the décor with an African cocktail table, and some bed-curtains made with her brand fabrics. The room is completed by a powder room that is covered in a pale paisley wallpaper.
In her son’s bedroom, we can find some luxury Indian blankets from the Santa Monica flea market that reflect Ireland’s lifelong love of needlework. The bedroom is also headlined by a stunning Barley Twist inspired bed and a simple wicker chair.
